A.W.N. Pugin (1812-52) is important in the history of the Gothic Revival, development of ecclesiology, the Arts and Crafts Movement, and architectural theory. His correspondence provides insight into the man and information about his work than any other source. By the end of this volume (the first of five) Pugin is established in his career.
