Death and the Classic Maya Kings

Focusing on the Classic Period (AD 250-900), this work examines and compares the textual and archaeological evidence for rites of death and burial in the Maya lowlands. It reconstructs royal mortuary rites and helps to understand the key Maya concepts including the afterlife and ancestor veneration.
