James P. Sullivan was among the first to answer Lincoln's call for volunteers in 1861. This is a collection of the 17-year-old's writings about his days in President Lincoln's army, including accounts of the battles of Brawner Farm, Second Bull Run, South Mountain, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg.
