Joyce, O'Casey, and Irish Popular Theater

This text assesses the contribution of Irish popular culture, namely the theatre, to the various political and social discourses in turn-of-the-century Dublin. It also provides a portrait of the many actors, actresses and matinee idols who drew vast audiences into the Dublin theatres.
