Memorandum on the Teaching of English

First published in 1927, this book was created in response to a 1921 report from the Departmental Committee of the Board of Education criticising the lack of importance given to the teaching of English in schools. The text was written in an effort to systematise methods of teaching English and increase the subject's prominence in schools.
