First published in 1898, this work by the bibliographer Henry Wheatley (1838-1917) recounts the history of booksellers, and manuscript and book pricing in England, tracing their market value over three hundred years. Wheatley also devotes separate chapters to the pricing history of Shakespeare's works and other notable English publications.
